“Procrastination is opportunity's natural assassin.” ~ Victor Kiam
Convenience is the killer of dreams, goals, and progress.
What do I mean by convenience?
Hanging with friends every moment instead of investing time in your dreams.
Spending additional money on stuff you don’t need instead of investing when you’re already behind on your savings and investment goals.
Watching TV instead of reading a book to expand your knowledge.
Dating someone who doesn’t meet your standards because you fear being alone.
Eating fast food every day of the week instead of cooking meals to help you reach your health goals.
Working one day a week instead of 3-5 days a week when you know you’re out of shape and need to lose weight.
Missing days instead of working on your goals and dreams every day.
Convenience will keep you in a mediocre position throughout life.
The only way to destroy your addiction to convenience is to rip the bandaid off and get comfortable with pain.
Ed Mylett says, “Winning is more fun than fun.”
He’s right.
When you’re winning, you feel better, look better, and you SEE results in your life and on your goals.
When you’re having fun, sure you’re smiling and laughing for the time being, but your goals are dying.
Keep having fun long enough, and you’ll wake up one day wondering what you have made of yourself.
For many, the answer to this question/thought will be NOT MUCH.
We were born to accelerate and make progress until we leave the earth.
Life isn’t about convenience—especially when you’re working towards a goal, which you should be doing til the day you die.
So what does this mean?
For you, it might mean you need to rethink some of your habits.
Show a successful person your habits, and they will be able to tell you where you end up in one, three, five, and ten years.
Most people’s habits are perfect reflections of an addiction to convenience.
They seek shortcuts in everything they do. On top of that, they are ADDICTED TO SHORT-TERM PLEASURE.
Short-term pleasure seekers WILL ALWAYS LAND NOWHERE.
It’s why most people have no gold in their golden years.
It’s why most people are overweight.
It’s why most people are broke.
It’s why most people sleep in instead of waking up early to tackle their goals.
It’s why most people have beautiful dreams, but none have manifested.
It’s why most people stay in jobs they hate.
It’s why most people maintain mediocre friendships.
It’s why most people stay in mediocre relationships and marriages with average partners.
Short-term pleasure feels good NOW. But it gets you nowhere in the long run.
If you continue to succumb to convenient behaviors, habits, and thought patterns, you will get taken out of the game, which Napoleon Hill calls drifting.
99% of people are drifters — They settle in all or most areas of their lives, allowing circumstance and FEELINGS to dictate their destination.
What areas of your life are you addicted to convenience?
Thanks. I won the sympathy.
