Before this moment, how aware were you of your breathing?
Often, I forget that I am breathing, and it always catches me by surprise when I do remember. There is something magical about breathing consciously and feeling each breath as it enters and escapes from your body.
Anxiety, stress, tension, and negative emotions easily build up in our bodies, minds, and daily lives, which is why we need to constantly take a moment to become aware of our breathing — in addition to integrating other healthy habits into our lives (i.e. exercise, healthy dieting, stretching, yoga, etc.).
