Could You Walk Away From Them And Financially Support Yourself?
Having your own resources will shift how you view people in your life
A person checks every box:
Great car
Great career
Great finances
Multiple houses
Love animals (*wink)
Intelligent and educated
BUT they’re kind of rigid and controlling.
A person without means would likely stay and feel grateful enough to think, “Damn…I’m getting a great deal.”
They might not even realize the person is controlling because of everything else they bring to the table.
People frequently prioritize financial status over anything else, which makes them turn a blind eye to the rest of the tainted package.
A person with means, dignity, and a healthy self-image would easily walk away.
People with means don’t have to settle or subject themselves to unfair treatment and people who abuse their power.
They’re free.
They can come, go, and do as they please.
They don’t need someone (or people) around to split their living expenses down the middle or a 3x3 pie because they can cover the whole damn thing themselves like a f*cking boss.
Your Finances Will Ensnare or Free You
I wrote the article I could never be a gold-digger or a kept woman because I have a rule:
I will maintain financial independence and self-reliance no matter how much a person brings to the table.
If you are involved in a relationship (e.g., familial, platonic, romantic, professional, etc.), could you walk away TODAY and support yourself without their finances?
And I’m not talking about renting out a shack, giving up your car, not buying organic veggies, but instead, the ones suffocated in pesticides and eating off-the-dollar menu daily.
Could you comfortably and happily live on your own without the financial support of another human being or entity?
3 Things That Aren’t Okay
It’s not cool to seek the easy way out by finding a financial savior.
It’s not cute to be financially dependent and unable to support yourself.
It’s not okay to stay in a relationship just so you can slash costs by XX%.
If you can’t support yourself, change the narrative by figuring out how to support yourself.
Then, once you establish financial independence, decide if it’s worth staying in whatever financial entanglements you are involved in now or in the future when an opportunity presents itself (even people with means can shackle themselves financially to others).
Financial dependence doesn’t equate to freedom.
You’ll be amazed at how having your own resources will change your perspective of the people in your life.
You will view some people differently (360° turnaround) when you don’t need them to cover their share of the expenses anymore.
Establish financial independence and see for yourself.

Being able to support yourself is a must.
