Panic attacks: Jessica experiences panic attacks every week. She doesn’t realize she hates her job and the amount of stress it’s causing her mentally, emotionally, and physically. Because her work is for a “good cause,” she refuses to give it up even though her passions lie elsewhere.
Depression: Michael experiences a constant state of depression. He refuses to implement five consequential decisions that will change his life forever. He is stuck in a permanent state of paralysis.
Suppression: Krissy gets sick and experiences frequent anxiety. She doesn’t realize this is because she constantly suppresses her emotions and traumatic experiences. Instead of communicating about and navigating through her emotions and trauma, she suppresses, which takes a toll on her mentally and physically. Yet, she remains unaware of this because she is not in tune with herself.
Bodily Pain: Tim experiences throbbing pain every day. He chooses not to be congruent with himself and stays committed to people, obligations, and a lifestyle that doesn’t reflect his values. Until he becomes congruent, his body will respond with a physical manifestation of pain.
Not addressing our emotions manifests unique results in each of us. For some of us, it might be emotional, physical, mental, or spiritual pain.
What emotions have been present in your life lately?
Whether you are experiencing joy, peace, happiness, satisfaction, pain, disappointment, anger, gratitude, bitterness, vengefulness, stress, anxiety, or fear, it all signals an action you need to take or signals that you have been taking the right actions.
Instead of running away from our emotions as most people do, we should explore them.
Tune into your inner-being often and ask yourself: “What are my current emotions trying to convey?” What actions do I need to take to bring about a shift if the emotion does not feel good?”
We don’t need to judge our emotions as negative or positive; we should focus more on how they make us feel. If we feel joy, then we are in a positive vibration. If we feel the opposite of joy, we are experiencing a negative vibration, and action must be taken to bring change.
Life is meant to be enjoyable. If you’re not enjoying life, you need to change something immediately.
Don’t judge your emotions. Listen, observe, and address all of your emotions. Then, notice how your life changes in the most positive ways.
It is also critical to embrace silence and solitude. We can accidentally suppress or hide our most genuine emotions if we never take time to get away from everything and everyone. What do we feel during the quiet moments? What do we feel when we are with ourselves? It is during these moments that we can reveal many truths about ourselves. Pay close attention.
