Define Success For YOU
First off, success is subjective and looks different for everyone.
To some, success means:
Earning tens of millions of dollars, owning a yacht, flying in private jets, and owning multiple opulent homes and vehicles. Though this is materialistic, there’s nothing wrong with this as long as you don’t lose perspective on what matters most (which isn’t things).
Thriving in their career, becoming an executive, having a successful marriage, creating a legacy with children, and helping them thrive.
Traveling and living wherever they want without too many attachments and responsibilities.
Living away from the world on their own land in simplistic solitude.
Something different and unique to you.
Step 1: How To Create Success
The first step in creating success in your life is to define what it looks like. Be sure to evaluate all areas of your life.
Here are the key areas:
Family
Health
Career
Relationships
Love & Partnership
Define what success looks like in all of these areas in granular detail.
Review what you write down frequently to help you stay on track.
You will also notice that “success” for you may evolve. Success might look different to you next year or ten years from now.
Stay open, in tune, and aware of what success feels and looks like so you’re chasing something you don’t genuinely desire.
My high-level definition of success is living with as few things as possible, being able to travel wherever and whenever I desire, maintaining financial independence, and flourishing in all areas of my life through continuous learning and education— while also being able to impact others positively through my words, habits, lifestyle, actions, and choices.
Write out your definition of success but in more detail.
Understanding what motivates and drives you can only lead to a more fulfilling life during your time on Earth.
Five Things You Need To Be Successful
Once you know what success is, implementing these five things will help you obtain it.
1. Focus
Distraction is the enemy of progress. The more distracted you are or directions you pursue, the less focus you have.
What are your primary goals? Every one of you should have a top 1–5 goals that you are actively pursuing.
Once you have your goals develop a healthy relationship with sacrifice because you need it to pursue them.
You will miss out on some fun, your favorite/new television shows; you will miss out on what everyone else is doing.
But focus will help you prioritize the reward you will receive when you achieve your goal.
You have to be a long-term thinker to stay focused for extended periods.
Short-term gratification will consume your time, kill your dreams, and destroy your progress.
2. Desire
If you don’t possess a burning desire for whatever you’re pursuing, you will attack your goals with a lukewarm approach.
Some people achieve great things by accident. But most have to go to war for their goals.
How badly do you want to make your dreams a reality and create your definition of success as your life experience?
For many, their desire won’t be fierce enough so that they will make little progress toward their goals.
3. Persistence
Persistence is one of my favorite traits. It’s also one of my favorite traits in people.
People who are persistent leave lasting impressions on me. The persistent ones don’t give up, keep coming back for more, are immune to rejection, and will do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals.
Why do people not reach or experience success? They are persistent but with their current habits.
If you want to change your life, you must change yourself and how you live; this is the only way to experience a shift.
Persistence is twofold. If you stubbornly refuse to change your habits, you will persist down the path of mediocrity — never tapping into your limitless abilities, talents, and gifts.
It’s time to take a different approach. Persist with actions, habits, and thoughts that will elevate your life, not make it stagnate.
4. Continuous Learning
The only reason I am where I am today is because I’m dedicated to continuous learning. Few days go by when I don’t read a book.
Leaders are readers.
Successful people are readers.
People with high self-awareness are readers.
World-class people are dedicated to continuous learning.
Success comes through the acquisition of information, which is then applied. Application is the only way to help you close the gap between where you are to where you desire to be.
5. Consistent Execution
Execute consistently at all costs. This is the most important out of the five because, without execution, you stay in the same position. And with consistent execution, you will make enough progress to experience change.
Sometimes you must rest your mind, body, spirit, and soul. But always get right back in the ring. Stay in the fight at all costs.
Pursuing a goal is similar to war. There are opponents (distractions) everywhere. Some of these distractions might be emotional, your past, regret, people, drugs, addictions, unproductive habits, tv, social media, relationships, etc.
The key is to keep distractions at arm’s length. Learn to master them so that you can experience a higher life.
Anyone that knows me knows I disappear. These moments of disappearance are intentional to ensure I focus on my goals.
Without focus, you will never experience transformation in your life.
If you aren’t willing to say “no” to people and things because you don’t want to experience FOMO or don’t want to appear rude, you aren’t ready to achieve your goals.
If you aren’t willing to set boundaries with the time you devote to your goals, you aren’t ready to achieve your goals.
If you aren’t willing to sever ties with the people and things holding you back from progressing, you aren’t ready to achieve your goals.
If you aren’t willing to kill and destroy obstacles in your progress, you aren’t ready to achieve your goals.
Saying “NO” to yourself, others, and distractions is one of the most powerful things you can do to create your ideal reality.
Are you ready to experience success? You have all the tools you need; now, you must take persistent and consistent action.
