I find it salient to have special places to visit that bring me back to my center. It’s easy to lose perspective and open-mindedness when you’re constantly in the same place. Isolation is often a choice. Many of us don’t realize we isolate our minds, thoughts, and potential by never exposing ourselves to new places.
Thought-Provoking Question
My aunt recently asked me the following question: What has made you happy recently?
My response: Traveling and getting out of my usual environment. Staying in the same place feels claustrophobic for me at times.
I found the question to be perfect timing because I had started working on the draft of this article a couple of hours before she asked the question.
Get Out
We need to get out. We need to go to continually flow. Our minds should constantly evolve, and one way to do this is to habitually expose ourselves to unique environments, which shift our patterns and habits — even if only a smidge.
Answers, realizations, and epiphanies come easier when you get out of your usual. Confusion that has lingered leaves your spirit and clarity finds its way into your soul.
Miami, FL
One of my favorite spots to visit is Miami. It’s not about the parties, the beautiful and colorful people, or the food for me; it's not even about the energy — which comes nowhere near Manhattan. It’s about how I feel when I am in Miami: peaceful, present, still, and vital. I wake up earlier. I feel more relaxed, and I feel at home.
Manhattan, NY & Xi’an, China
When it comes to places filled with energy, my mind goes straight to Manhattan, New York, and Xi’an, China. The energy in these places is absolutely infectious, life-giving, and positively overpowering. I can walk for miles on end, exploring the beauty and mind-blowing energy of each city. My mind, body, soul, and spirit are filled with vitality and spirit.
What Are Some of Your Places?
Everyone has examples of places that offer them a better or different version of themselves. Some places bring out the best in us, and these are the places we should visit often.
Make a list of the places you’ve visited in the past that provide healing and empowerment to your soul. Take note, and take action to be in those places.
Life is too short to stay in the same place 100% of the time.
Final Thoughts
I’ve visited Miami three times in the last 8 months. You might ask why.
My Response: because I need to be here. I want to be here. It’s a pitstop that allows me to find my center, balance, and tranquility. It’s a place that reminds me of who I am and where I want to go from here. It’s a place that helps me think and feel with 100% clarity, so I treasure it.
