Stuck in the present
Stuck in the future
Stuck in the past
I’m trying to enjoy this temporary insanity while it lasts
I want to go here
I want to go there
But all of these places somehow end up leading nowhere
I find a new space
Wrapped in pretty lace
But then it all becomes just like the last place
Until the next distraction
I’m going in circles
Reflection
A transformative book I read in the past is called: Wherever You Go, There You Are — Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life By Jon Kabat-Zinn.
We can move to another location, person (e.g., relationship), job, etc., but none of it will bring us the happiness we seek until we find happiness within ourselves.
Peace, contentment, and happiness start with you. No one else can bring you real and lasting joy — except for yourself.
Richard Carlson recommends being inner-directed instead of outer-directed; an inner-directed person is not led by outside feelings, circumstances, and people, but an external-directed person is.
Be inner-directed, and you will create more peace for yourself. And remember, gratitude will contribute to a better life experience — wholly.
