Remember How Extraordinary You Are: An Exercise In Confidence
Daily Inspiration, Wisdom, And Courage
“When you’re trying to be humble, it’s easy to forget how extraordinary you are. Make a list of your best qualities. Feel free to be generous with your praise. Brag! You don’t always have to be humble. Reminding yourself of your abilities and positive traits is an act of empowerment, not arrogance.
Then, turn your list into a series of affirmations by adding “I am” before each one: I am incredibly generous. I am beautiful. I am a great parent. I am a loyal friend.
Say your affirmations out loud to yourself. Take it one step further and record yourself speaking these affirmations. Whenever you need to, listen to the voice recording to remind yourself of your own brilliance.” — Cyndie Spiegel
Balance: Humility + Confidence
For those who struggle with being overly humble and not confident, this is a reminder to remember how extraordinary you are.
If you don’t remember this, who will?
There is a fine balance between humility and confidence.
We don’t need to go through life minimizing ourselves, our self-worth, accomplishments, identities, and efforts. It’s okay to brag sometimes. It’s okay to feel good about ourselves. It’s okay to demand salaries that we feel we deserve. It’s okay to say “no,” and implement a boundary with people that don’t treat us with respect. It’s okay to think positively about ourselves. It’s okay to have high self-worth, self-esteem, self-love, and self-confidence. It’s okay to prioritize our health (mentally, spiritually, physically, sexually, financially, and professionally). It’s okay to be and feel empowered. Because guess what? We are powerful beings.
No matter how high or low you might be feeling this weekend, remind yourself of your beauty, strength, confidence, power, worth, and achievements. You have achieved a great deal — even if it seems small to you. You have overcome a great deal. You are a big deal.
Today, learn how to maintain a genuine, humble spirit and flourish with a confident and vibrant light. Be extraordinary because that’s who you’ve always been.
With love,
