“Practice Makes Perfect” is a common saying that is often true. However, life happens, which means sometimes events go a different way then we intended.
Yes, practice for that which you aim to accomplish, and don’t stop practicing. But it is critical to be kind to yourself in the case that things go a different direction (and a quick note on this: events going in a different direction doesn’t have to be negative).
Often, feelings such as anxiety, stress, panic, embarrassment, disappointment, humiliation, self-pity, and insecurity can ramp up when our plan doesn’t go precisely the way we pictured; this is why we must be flexible, forgiving, and humble.
At times, practice doesn’t make perfect, but is it the end of the world? No. Opportunities to try again are always here; you just have to find and realize them.
