Stop Going Crazy Over Others' Successes; Create Some Of Your Own Success
Average people put more energy into well-known figures than their dreams
Let me make a disclaimer: Always celebrate and appreciate others. When you do this, you set the stage for others to do the same for you.
But some of you get way too excited about others’ accomplishments and invest considerable time and energy into everyone else’s dreams but your own:
“They’re a beast!”
“They’re so talented!”
“I’m their biggest fan.”
“They’re unstoppable.”
“I love everything they put out.”
“Did you see so and so’s latest [insert x here]?”
Many people have done legendary things, are talented, and worthy of honor.
But so are you…
The average person will go to their graves with their talents undiscovered by the world because they refuse to invest time, effort, energy, and belief in their dreams and themselves.
What are you doing with your limitless talents, abilities, gifts, and uniqueness?
The athletes, celebrities, musicians, executives, and others being observed doing phenomenal and interesting feats are being watched because they’ve put in the time.
Many have dedicated hours, years, and decades to build up to where they are now.
Success is not a sprint. It’s a marathon.
Some have never shared the nitty-gritty stories and experiences that led to where they are today.
You’re seeing the other side of determination, consistency, pain, sweat, and tears; the side the average person wants to avoid.
Complete The Following Exercise
Step outside yourself for a moment, and recall the most recent time you spent hours watching, praising, and investing time/energy into someone else instead of yourself.
Maybe you were watching someone play a sport, watching someone perform, watching someone on social media, etc.
You might have even shared a piece of their content or talked about them with others.
Observe how fascinated you are with them.
Now observe how fascinated you are with your dreams and goals.
Is there a disparity?
What Do You Do With Your Time?
I’ve heard many people go nuts over others’ successes, and I always wonder why they put so much energy into other people more so than themselves.
Why do they spend numerous hours watching others versus working on their dreams?
If you were to ask them about their dreams, they have big ones.
If you were to ask them how they will accomplish their dreams and what they’re doing to manifest them, they wouldn’t have much of an answer for you.
They will likely have an excuse for why they will never be or can’t be successful.
It’s often because they don’t believe in themselves or are too lazy to get started and stay started.
Do You Believe In Yourself?
There is only ever one thing preventing people from success.
And it’s you.
A person might say there are people in positions you can’t imagine that will never be able to escape them.
Notice what people who say these things are doing; they’re taking the focus off of themselves and talking about people they may not even know (a perfect example of giving an excuse and not taking responsibility for your life).
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
Some people are born hungry for success, elevation, and achievement. They have that gene; there have been arguments that success is genetic. Maybe it is. It’s hard to put ambition into someone.
Whether or not a person is born into poverty, abusive situations, or other “debilitating” and “unimaginably difficult” circumstances, certain people always find a way to rise above. I don’t know how they do, but they find a way because they’re driven to succeed at all costs.
Success is a choice — even for those “destined” for failure.
A person can and will succeed if they eliminate the copious amounts of bullshit excuses they’ve created throughout their lives.
The more energy you invest in others, the less you invest in yourself. There is a delicate balance between celebrating and observing others and being productive with your life.
Never invest more energy into someone else’s dreams than your own; this is not a recipe for success.
Thank you for reading. Stop over-celebrating others’ success and create some of your own success.
