People are frequently bewildered at their lack of results, but they never take the time to analyze their daily actions. In the analysis of one’s actions, you are able to decide which direction you’re headed.
Your north star, or away from it.
Sprinters
Most people are sprinters.
They stay on track for a short period of time until they no longer feel like going, and then they stop.
Short-term pleasure frequently prevents them from making long-term sacrifices.
Marathoners
Few people are marathoners; these people have a do-or-die mentality regarding commitment.
They commit at all costs, no matter how they’re feeling, and they don’t sacrifice progress on their goals for short-term pleasure.
Goals Frequently Have No End In Sight
Many times there will be no end in sight for your goals.
A sprinter abruptly stops running.
A marathon continues walking one step at a time. They envision the end and believe they will eventually reach it. There is no rush to get to the end. They are only focused on making a little progress day in and day out.
Doubt is nowhere near their minds about reaching their goals because they know that the accumulation of little progress day in and day out will lead them directly to their intentions.
Are you a sprinter or a runner?
It’s easy to get started, but it’s harder to keep going.
I’ve been thinking about the quote, “Commit once.”
Imagine what you could accomplish if you committed once to your goals.
I bet you’d be a lot farther than you are now.
