Trust Yourself
This week, I was reminded to trust my instincts and intellect.
I needed to make a quick change to a legal document. I found the document that I needed to mail in and filled it out easily enough. Instead of following through, though, I decided to go through a company to file the paperwork to ensure I didn’t make any mistakes (I successfully utilized this company before to file legal paperwork, and they did an A+ job). However, the company I hired couldn’t seem to get the job done; they kept making mistakes and delaying the file for various reasons that are still unbeknownst to me. Considering they are experts, I was not expecting total failure-like behavior. They also took their sweet time even though I paid a hefty fee (triple the price of doing it myself) for an expedited process. On top of this, I had to teach them about the process and how to do it.
As the company continued making mistakes, delaying the completion of this task, and revealing their incompetence, I finally requested a refund. Apparently, they weren’t the experts after all, and I needed to get this document sent out immediately. So I did.
I learned a valuable lesson; I need to trust myself more. I ended back up where I originally started before hiring the company: square one.
Lesson: There will be situations that come along where we are headed in the right direction; we simply need to trust ourselves.
We can handle more than we believe. We are more intelligent than we believe. We are more independent than we believe. But none of this matters if we don’t trust and believe in ourselves.
In what areas of your life do you need to trust yourself more?
