Our Favorite Statement
How many times have you used this statement:
I can’t do [x] because of [y]?
I’ve probably used it thousands of times.
But now, I know it’s 99% of the time bullshit when I make any kind of excuse.
We will spend our time wherever we experience or receive the most value.
We’ve all been in situations when we thought we prioritized the right people and things. Then we wake up one day feeling and saying…
What The F*ck?!
What have I done?
How did I end up here?
How much time did I waste?
I’ve had to ask myself these questions and look at myself in the mirror as the only person I can blame.
Sometimes our perceptions are significantly skewed, so you must stay in tune with yourself, your goals, and your values.
Whatever you value is what your time will be attracted to. So always be sure you’re valuing the right things and people. The longer you invest your time into the wrong things and people, the more you deviate from your ideal path.
YOU CAN STOP FEELING GUILTY RIGHT NOW
You can stop feeling guilty about not progressing toward your goals because you have consciously decided to prioritize something or someone else over your goal.
Accept it.
Now ask yourself, are you okay with the choice you made?
Why waste your time, energy, and mental peace feeling guilty about not making progress if you’re actively choosing not to make progress on your goals?
This is illogical.
Your priorities are your decision.
Whether you’re in a relationship, have a hectic career life, deal with a lot of trauma and drama, etc. you still have the power of choice.
What Do You Value?
If you value watching your favorite show more than working on increasing your income, I guarantee you will achieve completing the show.
You will also earn the same amount of money you did when you first started the show.
“But I can do both! I can work on my dreams and watch tv!”
You’re right. You can, which is why you’ve successfully done it already, right?
Multi-tasking is not for the faint of heart. It takes skill to pair a non-productive activity with a productive activity.
Two rules I follow religiously:
I only start shows when I have time to lose.
If I watch a show, it’s something I’ve watched before.
Tv is one of the sneakiest inventions. Billions spend countless hours in front of a screen, and their dreams become the sacrifice.
I’m Going To Ask You The Question Again: What Do You Value?
Do you value progress on your goals or progress on your favorite show?
Do you value having money in your bank or spending more than you earn?
Do you value healthy relationships or toxic/unhealthy relationships?
Do you value increasing your income or living in lack?
The choice is up to you.
We must remember how much power, control, and autonomy we have over our lives. There’s no one pointing a gun to your head telling you that you can’t do this or you have to do that.
If you’re unhappy, dissatisfied, and fed up with your results, you can either:
Make a new decision
OR
Accept your results and permit yourself to stop feeling guilty.
Your priorities are your choices.
Don’t lie to yourself and blame your results on anything or anyone else.
Get on track or stay off the track.
Only some people want to choose the path of most resistance. It’s easier to watch others achieve success from the sidelines, which is what the average person will do most of their lives.
You can be the outlier, or you can watch the outlier.
There are only two paths.
Remind Yourself When Your Priorities Are Misaligned
Whenever I fall asleep, instead of completing a goal, I tell myself, “I’m choosing sleep.”
We all need sleep, but sometimes we choose to sleep more than we choose our goals.
Whenever I actively choose to waste time or engage in a distraction instead of completing a goal, I tell myself, “I’m choosing to be distracted.”
After a while, you get fed up with telling yourself a sad story and watching yourself consciously choose failure.
What do you value — failure or success?
Thank you for reading. Get back on track. You have too much potential to let it waste.
